PF is franchised, so every club can set its own holiday hours. Use the 3 Golden Rules to check your exact club, plus see our 2025 holiday-by-holiday expectations below.
Why Planet Fitness holiday hours are confusing
Most guides pretend there’s a national Planet Fitness holiday schedule. There isn’t. Over 95% of PF locations are independently owned franchise clubs, and those owners decide the holiday hours.
Key point: two clubs 30 minutes apart can have totally different Thanksgiving hours — and both are correct for their franchise group.
That’s why we use a method (app → club page → phone) instead of guessing.
The 3 Golden Rules (do this every holiday)
1. PF App (best)
Open the official PF app → select your home club → tap “Club Details” → tap “Holiday Hours.” That line is edited by the club itself.
2. PlanetFitness.com club page
Search for your club on the official site → open the club’s page → find “Holiday Hours” next to regular hours.
3. Call 1–2 days before
Call during staffed hours. Ask: “What are your hours on <holiday>?” Don’t call at 8 AM on the holiday itself.

Think of this table as “what most PFs do” — not “what yours definitely does.”
Holiday-by-holiday breakdown
New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day
Dec 31: early close. Jan 1: open, but not 12:01 AM — more like 5–8 AM start.
Spring holidays (MLK, Presidents’, Easter)
MLK / Presidents’ Day → treat like normal. Easter → super unpredictable because it’s not a federal holiday. Always check the app.
Summer holidays (Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4)
Memorial Day → open (sometimes early close). Juneteenth → open. July 4 → either short window like 7–1 or closed.
Fall & Thanksgiving
Labor Day → mostly normal. Thanksgiving → pure franchise decision; do not trust generic lists.
Christmas Eve & Day
Christmas Eve → open, but for a shorter day. Christmas Day → closed, this is the only truly consistent closure.
24/7 clubs, guests, and perks on holidays
24/7 does not mean 24/7/365
If your club says “Open & staffed 24/7,” that’s for normal weeks. Holiday hours override that.
Black Card guest on holidays?
Yes, if the club is open that day. Guest must follow normal rules.
Spa perks on holidays?
Yes — tanning, massage chairs, HydroMassage follow the club’s open hours for that holiday.
Conclusion: the method, not the myth
There is no magic global PF holiday schedule. There are 2,700+ local ones. So before you grab your gym bag:
- Open PF app → Club Details → Holiday Hours
- Or check the club page on the PF website
- Or call the club 1–2 days before
If you do that, you won’t hit a locked door again.
Planet Fitness Pricing, Fees & Membership FAQ (2025)
1. How much is Planet Fitness in 2025?
Classic is usually about $15/month (home club only). PF Black Card® is usually $24.99+/month (all-club access + guest + spa).
2. When is the $49 annual fee billed?
Usually 2–3 months after you join, then the same date every year. You must cancel by the 25th of the prior month to avoid it.
3. Can I cancel online?
Officially no — cancel in person at your home club or via certified mail. Some people transfer online to a California club to unlock an online cancel button.
4. Why do they want checking account info?
They bill by EFT/ACH because it’s stable and has lower processing costs, which helps keep monthly prices low.
5. Can I transfer to use a different club over holidays?
Yes, you can transfer your home club in the PF portal as long as you meet the time and payment requirements.
